Karen Campi, Vice President of Marketing & Community Affairs at Campi Dental, has been honored as one of NJBIZ’s 2024 Leading Women in Business. This prestigious recognition highlights women who have made significant contributions to the business landscape in New Jersey.
For 22 years, Karen Campi has been a driving force at Campi Dental, a practice founded in 1933. Her leadership has fueled the practice’s growth through innovative marketing, community outreach, and team development. Karen oversees digital marketing, patient communications, event planning, and operations, while fostering strong community connections.
One of Karen’s most influential projects is her collaboration with the Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide (SPTS), where she leads the “Making Dentists Partners in Youth Suicide Prevention” initiative. This groundbreaking program equips dental professionals to recognize early signs of mental health struggles in adolescents, positioning them as a key resource in preventing youth suicide. “As a relationship-based dental practice, we are uniquely positioned to notice subtle changes in our young patients’ behavior,” Campi explained. “These frequent interactions give us the chance to intervene early and potentially save lives.”
Karen emphasized the importance of being an early adopter of the program, stating that dental professionals can play a vital role in combating the youth suicide crisis. Early participants are not only setting a precedent for the dental community but also helping to refine this critical model, aiming to make it a national standard for the profession. “By bridging the gap between oral and mental health, we’re not just transforming our industry; we’re changing the trajectory of young lives,” Campi added.
Her vision is to expand this initiative statewide and ultimately nationwide, creating a comprehensive network of trained dental professionals serving as a safety net for at-risk youth. Karen’s commitment to this cause, combined with her work at Campi Dental, exemplifies her passion for community-driven healthcare solutions.
As a community leader, Karen spearheads Campi Dental’s Campi Cares initiatives, including the Sponsor a Student back-to-school supply drive, the Annual Candy Buy-Back Program supporting The Tunnel to Towers Foundation, and Operation Sleigh Bells to provide holiday gifts to children and teens in need. Karen also leads the practice’s internship and scholarship programs, partnering with local organizations like Monmouth County Habitat for Humanity, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County, Mary’s Place By the Sea, and Preferred Behavioral Health. These efforts resulted in the practice receiving the 2021 Jersey Shore Chamber Golden Osprey Award.
Beyond her work at Campi Dental, Karen serves as Board Member, Executive Committee Secretary, and Vice Chair of Marketing at the Monmouth-Ocean Development Council, as Director of Strategic Development on the Executive Board of WEforum, and as Sponsorship Chair for the SPTS’s Women of Wellness and Wonder Luncheon. A New Jersey native, she began her career in Public Relations at AT&T Wireless and continues to make a lasting impact on both her industry and community.
Campi will be celebrated at a ceremony on October 15, 2024, at The Palace at Somerset Park in Somerset, NJ. Tickets for the event can be purchased at NJBIZ.com/events.
