Fine particles of a sand-like material are released under high pressure directly to a localized tooth surface. These forced air particles replace “drills” to remove decay from the tooth surface, making the procedure more conservative, less invasive, more comfortable, and faster for the patient than conventional treatment. Typically, no anesthesia is required for this procedure. Air Abrasion is used for small- to moderate-sized cavities on the biting surface of the teeth. It is also useful in treating children quickly and painlessly.
