Oral Cancer Awareness at Campi Dental
At Campi Dental, we believe that education and early detection are powerful tools in the fight against oral cancer. Each year, we dedicate the month of April to raising awareness about this often-overlooked disease—and we invite our patients and community to join us in this life-saving mission.
Why Oral Cancer Awareness Matters
Oral cancer is a serious condition that can affect the lips, tongue, cheeks, floor of the mouth, hard and soft palate, sinuses, and throat. It’s often not detected until it reaches advanced stages, which makes routine screenings and public education absolutely critical.
Oral Cancer Statistics:
- 65,670 Americans will be diagnosed with oral or oropharyngeal cancer this year
- It’s estimated that 15,700 people will succumb to Oral Cancer in 2025
- Oral Cancer is known to spread to other parts of the body before being diagnosed because it’s often discovered late in its development due to limited warning signs and symptoms
- Oral cancer is more common in men than women.
- The average age of those diagnosed is 62. However there is a growing amount Oral Cancers caused by HPV 16 which tend to appear in younger adults <45.

Our Annual Awareness Initiatives
Each year during Oral Cancer Awareness Month, Campi Dental donates $25 for every oral cancer screening performed throughout April. These funds support Mary’s Place by the Sea, a local nonprofit that provides healing and support to women with cancer. This initiative not only helps detect oral cancer early—it also helps care for those already affected by cancer in our community.
Thanks to our patients’ participation, this program has grown year after year. By simply showing up for their screenings, our patients are making a difference.
In addition to making a financial contribution, Campi Dental is now offering complimentary oral cancer screenings to all past and present guests of Mary’s Place by the Sea. It’s our way of giving back to an organization that gives so much to others, and to the amazingly strong women that have passed through their doors.
During Oral Cancer Awareness Month, our team had the privilege of spending time at the Boys & Girls Club presenting “The Truth About Vaping: Everything You Need to Know” — a powerful conversation with local kids about the real risks behind the vaping trend.
With vaping on the rise, we’re also seeing a troubling increase in oral health issues among younger patients — and we believe the best way to combat it is through knowledge. This visit was especially meaningful to us. Campi Dental has a deep-rooted history with the Boys & Girls Club — our founder, Dr. John G. Campi, was one of the founding members of the Boys Club of Asbury Park back in 1938.
We’re honored to be continuing the legacy of service, prevention, and community care by partnering with the BGC, which is a full-circle moment we’ll never forget.
