Dental Implants in Wall Twp NJ
What are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are permanent tooth replacements for patients with one or more missing teeth. An implant serves to restore the foundation and crown of a missing tooth. Dentists and patients prefer implants to other alternatives because they look, feel, and function like natural teeth.
There are three primary elements to a dental implant: the implant, abutment, and crown. The implant itself serves as a replacement for the roots of your tooth. It is shaped like a screw and made of titanium. Over time, your jawbone fuses with the titanium, forming a solid foundation for an artificial tooth.
An abutment connects the final restoration crown securely to the implant. Prosthetic crowns are usually made of porcelain or zirconium and look just like a natural tooth. Once the final restoration is fixed to the implant, patients can return to eating a restriction-free diet.
Benefits of Dental Implants
Function Like Natural Teeth
Dental implants restore your ability to eat anything you want, communicate clearly, and clean your teeth without removing appliances. Unlike dentures, implants are permanent and stable enough to support your full bite force when you eat. So, say goodbye to inconvenient and embarrassing slippage and hello to the confident smile you’ve always dreamed about.
Last a Lifetime
Implants are not the only tooth replacement treatment option, but they are the most long-lasting. Dental bridges last around ten years on average, and dentures usually last between 7 to 10 years. On the other hand, dental implants have over 30 years of longevity with proper care.
Stimulate Healthy Bone Growth
When you lose a tooth, there is nothing to stimulate healthy jawbone growth, causing your bone mass to decrease by around 25% in as little as one year. Removable bridges and dentures rest on your gums, but a titanium dental implant replaces a tooth’s roots, allowing you to chew, which causes your jaw to retain its volume.
Preserve Facial Structure
One of the unfortunate side effects of losing teeth can be facial misalignment and sagging. Gaps from missing teeth cause structural instability in nearby teeth, which affects the overall structure of your face. Dental implants replace missing teeth, maintain your facial structure, and restore your natural smile.
Dental Implant Process
The dental implant process has several stages and takes between 6 to 8 months on average. There are two main procedures, separated by a recovery and healing stage. At Campi Dental, we guide you through every step of the way to ensure your treatment is as effective and convenient as possible.
First, you will come into our office for the implant placement procedure. During this appointment, Dr. Galante will remove the damaged tooth and prepare your jawbone for the implant. Bone grafting may be needed if your jawbone lacks sufficient volume to support the implant successfully.
After Dr. Galante places the implant, a healing cap is attached to protect the surgical area during the healing process. Over the next few months, your jawbone will biologically fuse with the titanium implant, forming a solid foundation for the prosthetic crown. You will come back to our office so Dr. Galante can ensure your jawbone is healing and growing correctly.
Once your jawbone has healed and bonded with the implant, you will come back for your final crown scan. During the implant restoration procedure, Dr. Jack Campi or Dr. Joe Campi attaches an abutment to the implant and ensures a perfect fit of your porcelain or zirconium tooth.

Who is a candidate for dental implants?
To be considered for dental implants, a patient’s jawbone, gums, and teeth should be in good health. If a tooth has been missing for over a year, their jawbone mass may be too depleted to support the implant without bone grafting.
Getting implants takes several months, so patients should be prepared and patient. Maintaining good oral habits throughout the implant process means giving up harmful practices, including tobacco use and smoking, which can cause soft tissue infections and a painful condition called dry socket.
Cost of Dental Implants
Several factors go into determining the cost of dental implants. Implants have a higher upfront cost than dental bridges or removable dentures, but they last decades longer and help you avoid future ongoing costs. Apart from the long-term benefits of dental implants, the final price includes:
- Dental exam with 3D scans
- Extraction of damaged teeth
- Fabrication of crown
- Placement of implant, abutment, and crown
