Campi Cares
Campi Cares is our practice’s philanthropic initiative that was born out of the long standing tradition of giving back to the community. As a dedicated philanthropist and generous contributor to a variety of charitable organizations, Campi Dental’s founder, Dr. John Campi paved the way for a long history of positive community involvement for the practice. Campi Cares today is led by the Campi Families with participation from the entire Campi Dental team. Our practice is not only committed to delivering expert dental care but is passionate about supporting the communities in which we practice and our patients live. Giving back is a passion of ours and is demonstrated in our actions and how we serve our families, communities, and environment.

Collecting Now Through Dec 10th 2024
Campi Care’s 19th Annual Candy Buy-Back – Nov 2nd 2024
At this year’s Candy Buy Back, Campi Dental proudly collected and boxed up over 85 boxes of candy to send to our troops. This was made possible thanks to the amazing support of their team, volunteers, patients, and community members. Having everyone together with their families was special for the Campi Dental team and all for such an amazing cause.
A big thank you goes out to “Always Supporting Our Military” for providing crafts for the kids and helping to
ship over 950 pounds of candy to our troops overseas. Campi Dental was also thrilled to support Kathy
Cunningham of Team Shamrock by donating to the incredible Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
“The Candy Buy-Back event was a beautiful day filled with giving, kindness, and generosity – a true
reflection of the close-knit community that Campi Dental has been proud to be a part of for the past 91
years,” said Karen Campi, VP of Marketing and Community Affairs at Campi Dental. “Hosting annual
initiatives like this is a way for the practice to show our deep gratitude for the unwavering support we
have received from the local community.”
As one of Campi Dental’s Campi Cares programs, the Candy Buy-Back event provides tremendous benefits to
several important groups. First and foremost, it supports our brave troops overseas by sending them a sweet
taste of home. The event also raises funds and awareness for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation and promotes
healthy choices by encouraging families to reduce their post-Halloween sugar intake.
“The Candy Buy-Back perfectly embodies the spirit of Campi Cares—Caring, Culture, and Community—with a delightful touch of sweetness,” said Debra Rizzi, a patient and president of Rizco. “It was inspiring to see people of all ages, spanning over seven decades, come together to donate for a meaningful cause, supporting our troops through Team Shamrock and the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Watching the pyramid of candy boxes grow throughout the morning added to the excitement and sense of community.”
Campi Dental’s inspiration for this annual event comes from its long-standing commitment to community
service and supporting important causes. Whether it’s educating local youth, providing oral cancer screenings,
or collecting supplies for those in need, Campi Dental is dedicated to making a positive impact on their
community year-round.

The John G. Campi Community Service Scholarship | 2024 Winner: Lily Rogers
We are thrilled to announce that Lily Rogers from Spring Lake Heights is the recipient of this year’s John G. Campi Community Service Scholarship. Lily recently graduated from Saint Rose High School in Belmar with an impressive 4.03 GPA. She also demonstrated leadership as the captain of the Varsity softball and tennis teams.
This fall, Lily will be attending Saint Francis University, where she will major in health sciences and enroll in the Physicians Assistant Program. Her passion for community service is evident through her active volunteering with the Spring Lake First Aid and Emergency Squad. As an emergency medical responder (EMR), she has dedicated over 725 service hours, responding to more than 300 rescue calls.
Lily’s commitment to helping others extends beyond emergency response. She organizes local toiletry and toy drives for Jersey Shore University Medical Center (JSUMC) and K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital. Additionally, she is a strong supporter of the “Stop the Bleed” program, inspired by the Sandy Hook school shooting, which teaches people how to control severe bleeding. Since 2019, Lily has taught “Stop the Bleed” classes at her school, parish, Rotary Club, and the local hospital.
We are incredibly proud of Lily’s achievements and dedication to both her academic and community service pursuits. We look forward to seeing her continue to excel in her medical career and expand her role as a volunteer in the community. Congratulations, Lily!
The Campi Dental Scholarship | 2024 Winner: Yana Zelinsky
We are proud to announce Yana Zelinsky from Neptune, NJ, as the 2024 winner of the Campi Dental Scholarship. This fall, Yana will embark on an exciting journey at Muhlenberg College and the University of Pennsylvania, enrolling in the 3+4 Biology and Dental program. Her interest in dentistry began in high school, where she gained hands-on experience by assisting at her dental practice. She shadowed dentists and hygienists, learning from their expertise and assisting with procedures such as extractions, implant surgeries, and crown insertions. Yana also mastered the use of the Ivoclar Intraoral Scanner, creating electronic 3D models for patient cases.
Yana’s love for dentistry is particularly evident in her interactions with children and her dedication to understanding each patient’s unique needs. We look forward to seeing her continue to excel in her academic and professional pursuits. Congratulations, Yana!

Oral Cancer Awareness Month
Oral cancer is a serious condition that can have life-threatening consequences if not detected and treated early. In fact, oral cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in the world, and its number of cases has been steadily increasing over the past several years. The good news is that with early detection, oral cancer is highly treatable. This is why we recommend that our patients receive regular oral cancer screenings as part of their routine dental checkups. Early Detection is Key. It’s our goal to educate our patients and the community about Oral Cancer throughout the year. In the month of April we focus on educating our followers and encouraging oral cancer screenings.
Below are statistics, facts, and signs to look for to be proactive against oral cancer. If you ever have any doubts or questions, please don’t hesitate to call us at Campi Dental Phone NumberCampi Dental Phone Number Campi Dental Phone Number Campi Dental office Phone Number Campi Dental office Phone Number 732-449-2228. The American Cancer Society’s most recent estimates for oral cancer in the United States for 2021 are:
- Tobacco use of any kind and heavy alcohol use are primary causes of Oral Cancer as well as excessive sun exposure to your lips or a sexually transmitted virus called HPV
- About 54,010 people will get oral cavity or oropharyngeal cancer in 2021
- An estimated 10,850 people will die of these cancers
- These cancers are more than twice as common in men as in women and are about equally common in Blacks and in whites
- Oral cavity and oropharyngeal cancers occur most often in the tongue, tonsils & oropharynx, the gums, and the floor of the mouth
- The average age of people with oral cancer is 62, but it can occur in young people. Rare in children, but a little more than one-quarter occur in patients younger than 55
- Patients with oral cancers often will have another cancer in a nearby area such as the larynx (voice box), the esophagus, or the lung.
- After being cured of oral cancer, it’s common to develop another cancer later in the lung, mouth, throat, or other nearby areas. For this reason, follow up exams will be very important.
Every April we partner with Mary’s Place by the Sea to promote oral cancer screenings and educate the community about the importance of early detection and getting checked. For every screening completed in the month of April, Campi Dental will donate $25 to Mary’s Place by the Sea. Mary’s Place by the Sea is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting women who are receiving treatment for cancer. We provide services that complement their medical treatment, including oncology massages, nutrition education, individual counseling, expressive writing, reflexology, Reiki, guided meditation, prayer, and yoga…at no cost to our guests. Our guests are given the opportunity to hit the pause button on their medical treatments and daily responsibilities and just be. Our integrative services provide our guests rest and support during this challenging time in their lives. They are empowered with knowledge that will aid them on their road to healing.
Children’s Dental Health Month
Throughout February, Campi Dental raised awareness about the importance of children’s oral health. Developing good habits at an early age and scheduling regular dental visits helps children get a good start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.
We are proud to partner with several local elementary schools and preschools to provide their classrooms with fun, educational resources that explain to children from a young age the importance of oral health. The children all get to take home a dental goody bag filled with a new tooth brush, floss, mouth wash, a brushing chart, and tips and tricks to make brushing at home fun and easy.
The habits that we as parents instill at this very impressionable stage can be long lasting. We need to teach our children how important it is to take care of their teeth now so when they get their permanent teeth they are prepared. Parents are strongly recommended to supervise children practicing oral hygiene. They must brush for at least two minutes and brush every side of every tooth.
The best time for a child’s first visit to the dentist is between ages 2 and 3.
